Case management for solicitors and small firms — court timetabling, document workflows, jurisdiction-specific compliance. Close to the sector since 2003.

02  /  What we know

What we know about legal

Case management for solicitors and small-to-medium firms — matter management, time recording, document handling, court timetabling, undertakings. We built one of the early bespoke case management systems for a UK law firm back in 2003 and have stayed close to the sector since.

Legal software is workflow software where the workflow IS the work. A missed limitation date, an unrecorded undertaking, an untimed phone call — each one has a financial and professional consequence. We build the system to make the right thing the easy thing, and the wrong thing impossible. Jurisdiction-specific rules — limitation, court timetables, LBA Pre-Action Protocol, SRA / Law Society of Scotland accounts rules — are designed in, not bolted on.

Most firms aren't looking for a wholesale replacement. They want the matter management discipline that the off-the-shelf packages won't bend to, the time recording the fee-earners will actually use, and the document handling that respects how the firm already names and stores its files.

Client-facing increasingly means a phone in someone's hand. We build client portal apps that give clients structured matter visibility — progress, key dates, signed documents, secure messaging — without exposing the case management system itself. Native iOS / Android via Capacitor where push notifications and store presence matter; PWAs where rapid iteration matters more.

Anonymised, because we have to be. The kind of system, for the kind of business, and what it had to do.

05  /  Questions

Common questions, answered plainly.

01 Do you build case management systems for law firms?
Yes. The team has built bespoke case management systems for UK law firms since 2003 — matter management, time recording, document handling, court timetabling and undertakings.
02 Can you handle limitation date calculation?
Yes. Limitation dates, key dates and court deadlines are calculated against the matter type and the relevant rules, with diary entries created automatically and escalations when a date approaches.
03 Do you work with the LBA Pre-Action Protocol?
Yes. We have built workflows aligned to the LBA Pre-Action Protocol — letter generation, response windows, escalation triggers, and the audit trail to evidence compliance.
04 Can you replace or extend a legacy case management system?
Both. We have replaced old case management systems incrementally and we have extended existing ones with modern web interfaces, time recording and document handling, without disrupting live matters.
05 Do you work across English and Scottish jurisdictions?
Yes. The team is in Scotland and has built systems for firms operating under both Law Society of Scotland and SRA rules. Jurisdiction-specific rules — court timetables, accounts rules, limitation — are configurable at the matter-type level rather than hard-coded.
06 Are you UK-based?
Yes, we operate from Scotland and work with UK law firms.
